As a park ranger I have owned many of these, but the ones purchased here did not last more than my ten dollar pair knockoffs. So it goes.I got these for my husband because he lost his others. He loves them. He says they stay out on his head really well which is important in his line of work. He likes these better than the ones he lost so it was a total win on our part! This is the only Jacket pair of glasses I own or have seen so this review is JUST for the FLAK JACKET style model. The best thing I like about this model is that you can break them down into 9 pieces; 2 lenses, Top of frames, 2 arms, 2 rubber nose grips, 2 rubber covers over the brand insignia on each arm, and 2 rubber earsocks on the arms to grip the sides of your head. If you ever should break something you can buy just that part. They fit me very well, i.e. tightly. The rubber accents come in five different colors. The Polarized version produces some very vibrant colors, sky, overcast, and ordinary objects, etc.The arms are straight so these don't put pressure behind your ears, like the bend arms are prone to do.The Things I am less impressed with are:The nose grips are just a little to dinky and lets the top frame come into contact with your eyebrows and if it's hot sweat will run down the backside of the lens. So I will need to find some type of spongy square about the size of a sugar cube with a sticky side to attach it to the center of the backside of the top frame. To make them protrude a little to keep them off my eyebrow. These snap in lens uses a very small 'dog ear' hook to lock them into place. This means that if you get them and want to put in a pair of Rx prescription lens, then you'll have a hard time finding a shop that will be able to cut them for you. Oakley themselves outsources Rx lens to two different cutters. Lenscrafters was one of them and by now I've forgotten who the other cutter was.I was shocked when I went to my local Lenscrafters. I'm surprised those women can get dressed and get to work. Or even make a simple cup of coffee. After a good deal of time I was able to find an optometrist in North Carolina who had the equipment that could cut the Rx and dog ear locks. So they had to be sent back out to have my prescription fulfilled. He did an excellent job, but the time spent online finding him could have been better well spent on other tasks around the house like everybody elses houses. Now that it's done and over with, and even if they are durable plastic and rubber parts. They 'seem' like they'll be able to hold up for a good while compared to lightweight metal frames from other vendors. I haven't been through a winter with them yet so I can't comment on the fog aspect now. It might be that I can use some anti-fog product made specifically for automobile windshields. I don't know? But they are comfortable compared to my last pair and has a better vision image. That's all I can tell you. Some great youtube video's out there. Just be aware of the lock notch style versus the snap in they don't mention in the video's. Search lens cutting on youtube and you'll see why. The cutter is a circular type grinder like in any garage. They can cut round and rounded rectangular shapes but not the dog ears these lenses need. I give them a 3.5 star rating but I don't have that option, so rounded up it was 4.pros:+ very comfortable. i sometimes forget that i'm wearing them. even after giving them all day to start irritating me, they never do.+ snug fit. they don't budge even if you're moving around and working up a sweat. perfect for running and sports.+ very good looks. the style is artistic but not extravagant. the blue iridescent surface is beautiful.+ non-obstructive in face-to-face encounters. people standing next to you in good light can see your eyes if they look closely, just enough that you can still have the effect of eye contact.+ filter out bright light but not dim light. visibility never feels reduced, even in a dark room.+ extremely durable. the rim is made with a rubber-like material that's flexible enough to withstand abuse but firm enough to feel strong and fit snugly. the lenses pop out if you let them. with enough force, the temples pop out of their hinges with no noticeable damage.+ lens style has more reach than most. the extended outer-lower corners cover areas that many other sunglasses don't. if there's something bright in the lower-left or lower-right areas of your vision, it's still covered.+ interchangeable lenses. if you somehow get sick of them or break them, you can swap in new ones for much less than the cost of the glasses.cons:- very expensive. but even at this high end, you get what you pay for.- plastic parts look and feel like plastic. they do have a nice shiny coating that i don't imagine will wear off, but i generally tend to perceive plastic things as looking and feeling cheap.- if you're really rough in them, you might get dirt or sand in the hinges. it's easy to pop out the temples and clean the inside of the hinges, but i hesitate to repeat this process a lot, fearing that some part of the hinge will wear down over time.conclusion:one of the best purchases i have made. many of the pros listed above came as a surprise to me because i've never had a chance to wear a pair of sport sunglasses this nice. i'm glad i didn't decide to settle for something cheaper.Oakleys at a great price.I really love these. They fit snug, and keep things from being too bright. Lens shape keeps backlight or light from below or straight above from coming in. The lack of frame on the bottom of the lenses is great for cycling. (Even a thin frame can be a distraction when you are looking back over your shoulder on a bike). They will not fall off your head too easily. The rubber grippers on the ends of the stems hold your head w/o any discomfort. Others have said they are not easy to wear w/ a hat. I often wear a snug New Era baseball hat and yes, they *sort of* get in the way, but a simple adjustment of hat angle, or slipping the hat over the glasses stems (behind ears) making it slightly more snug, solves that problem.I have no idea if these are worth the price, there are other cheaper polarized UV reduced lenses out there. I will say this though, I try my best to be careful of them because they are so expensive, but the few times they fell on the ground (asphalt or cement), no scratches. I'm lucky? Or good plastic? Anyway, I recommend them.Great hard case included, will protect them in your luggage etc.**They are not perfectly dark mirrors: your eyes will be slightly visible to others, not quite ninja.**Careful in ordering replacement lenses-- the ones on amazon I got were from another co. not Oakley, and the plastic hooks that click in to the glasses frames were slightly different shape and wouldn't fit. Be careful to get the correct model and version of Flak lens replacements as they may not fit.As expected from an Oakley product these are excellent. I am extremely impressed with the speed of reaction of the VR50 Transitions lenses, which make these ideal everyday (winter and summer) eye-wear. The only time I don't uses them is in very bright conditions with glare, where I need a polarized lens. With Oakley's clip out/in lenses it is very easy to carry a pair of polarized lenses (PRIZM Shallow Water) with me and change when I feel the need.I previously had a pair of Half Jackets for many years but the Flak Jackets are a better fit and, with the larger XLJ lenses, provide better cover. I consider the Flak Jacket XLJ the ideal pair of sunglasses as they provide good facial cover (minimizing light leakage around the edges) whilst having two easy to pocket lenses making carrying exchange lenses very easy; by comparison a wrap around lens such as the Radar or M-Frame is difficult to fit in a pocket and to do so would be to risk damage. As always a great product from Oakley. The glasses themselves are great, durable and practicle, they give you an excellent all round field of vision. The frames are also very light and comfortable. The prizm trail lense is sports specific and aren't good for general use, Oakley also suggest they are not suitable for driving. So get another lends unless you specifically want the lense for cycling etc.I've always liked Oakley's, as pricey as they are. I like the polarised lens on these as they significantly reduce glare. I own other sunglasses, but if I wear them continuously for a period of time - an hour or more, I feel heat behind the ears and they start to feel a bit weighty on my nose. These Oakley's have a very light frame which makes them very comfortable to wear.Mine came from a seller in Germany and I had them within a week of ordering! I was quite impressed.Purchased to replace cheaper but ill-fitting cycling specific sunglasses. This frame is of far better quality and fit, comfortable on 3 hour rides and doesn't slide down my nose constantly. The lens is great for mountain biking on trails where there is a constant switch between full sun/shade and provides excellent protection and visibility. Also fine for cloudier days but I wouldn't use this lens after dark.Great sunglasses not only for the protection of your eyes but they look very good! The sunglasses sit nicely and are a very comfortable fit around your nose. I bought these sunglasses for working at sea so I need them to be A* , more than your hobby user or holiday buyer and they definitely preform. So from a professional point of view I would buy again and from a casual pout of view its definitely worth every penny!
